The Arrest and Extradition: Latimer was arrested in Michigan and then extradited to Volusia County, Florida, to face charges of organized scheme to defraud and grand theft. The Confrontation: Sheriff Mike Chitwood personally met Latimer at the airport upon her arrival in Florida. A video of the confrontation was released by the Sheriff's Office, in which Chitwood tells her, "I am the reason that you're here". Latimer reportedly responded, "I'm a victim myself". Outcome: The victim's money was successfully recovered. In June 2025, Latimer pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to 18 months in prison followed by 10 years of probation.
