This bird is one of the few left in the world that actually still has physical characteristics, and size, that really helps to remind us that they do in fact share DNA with prehistoric dinosaurs that once roamed our planet. Not all birds do...but oddly enough, chickens share dinosaur DNA as well! 🤔

Fleishhacker Zoo in San Francisco used to have two Cassowary birds in their domain...they had their own outdoor enclosed area...they were quite elusive and one was lucky to catch a glimpse of them...we were lucky and saw them maybe 6-7 times on our many trips to the zoo with our two sons and then our grandson.
