This is what works for me personally. I’m married. I have no problem with my husband going into my purse, any time of day or night, even if I’m not in the same room. Any other person, regardless of gender, gets to keep themselves away from the inside of my purse, unless I’ve given them instruction to do so. I can’t speak for other women, but I have stuff in my purse that isn’t for other people to see (a piece of mail, medication, money, ID, etc.)
