I understand some families do this as tradition and in their mind to show the birthday girl is loved and surrounded by friends and family wanting her to have fun. The first smear was, ok...you got me, happy birthday to me. The second smear was just mean...You can see it in the birthday girl's reaction. So glad my family never did this.

I grew up with my family doing this and I disliked it from day one. As soon as I was old enough to defend myself, I spoke up against it and made sure everyone knew that I considered it disrespectful. Anyone who chose to cross that line with me after knowing how I felt about it, found out my version of “Eye for an Eye”… I will treat you as you treat me. Set your boundaries no matter what “traditions” you where raised with. Love = Respect 💕🙏🏼
