I feel so sorry for the animals that are owned by these people... They're supposed to live simply, living off the land and yet they abuse their animals and work them to death and put them in dangerous situations constantly... They are hypocrites to the extreme.

I think this is abusive towards horses. I’m sorry I don’t believe cars and horses should go together. The horse will always be the loser in the end. You can look at the fear on that horse by his body actions. He’s scared to death.

Did you know the Amish overwork their horses with little vet care & then sell the injured or old horses to a slaughterhouse? they are not fed or watered & travel to Canada or Mexico to be killed for pet food. It really cruelty & a lot die before they get to the slaughter house. There are many rescue organizations that try to save these horses from the slaughter pipeline. A lot of the slaughterhouse horses come from the Amish.

I was driving from Indian to Ohio and came upon a horse and buggy. Signs all over the road about their having the right of way. I was driving slowly, but many just zoomed around them. When I safely passed, I got a friendly wave. It was a simple, but cool experience.

has anyone ever documented accurately how many of those horses are hit by vehicles and maimed or killed each year??? they should have a "horses only" lane on each side of the road...

In my old hometown of South Bend the Amish came into town to set up stands in the local farmers market and often we would see them on a main road near Notre Dame and Saint Mary's college U.S. 31. They rode their horse and buggies in the slow lane and everyone respected their space and presence we never drove in manner to upset their horses. We respected Amish people and considered their presence as vital to the community. 🌸🌸🌸🌸

I ride past amish buggies all the time and most horses look as though they enjoy being outdoors and going for a trot , and when they work the fields , they pull the wagons loaded with hay the horses stand by waiting

We have several communities of Amish in Iowa, it's very rare to have an accident with them on the road. It's their way of life, learn to respect everyone!

I LOVE THE AMISH people, I lived in Canton ohio. Harville ohio was the best place ever. The Love the kindness was just a BEAUTIFUL THING. We went to the market or the flee market, ate the best largest meal ever.

Gotta give it to the Amish people, though. Uncle Sam isn't out there making them pay taxes on their horse-drawn carriages that are maintained through DMV tax subsidies. Only in a few counties do they pay "buggy taxes." For the most mart they ride for free.

They are very abusive to their animals. The horses end up at auctions in horrible conditions only to be slaughtered. They run puppy mills as well

They are abusive towards their animals. I've seen so many in the most horrible state go through the auction. It's heartless and cruel.

I have seen how much respect for life that the visable Amish, choose to not bestow on horses… it would seem that they have a daily opportunity to display their gratitude, and choose indifference to this their choice…..since they are used like a machine, and discarded like trash, perhaps an actual machine would be a more sensitive a choice.

Yes, it's sad. A lot of Amish families get killed outside of Springfield here in Missouri. The horse and buggy will always lose up against a vehicle. 😭😭💔💔

why would you subject a horse to that..your logic makes no sense if you choose to subjugate an animal to task when tech has freed it of such a burden. why don't YOU drag that cart down the highway..Like a rickshaw

Tax the Buggies. Tear up roads. Leave horse shit wherever they drop it. Grocery stores, banks, doctor offices, and Walmart are their favorite.
