I served on a carrier if you didn’t like what was being served you could go eat at the forward mess deck and have burgers and fries that’s all they served
I can't remember the food being that bad many years ago during my Naval deployments. 😁😁
the food they made in the army was phenomenal. Breakfast was incredible. if you wanted one piece of bacon and one link sausage and one pancake and 6 eggs you got it

As a Marine, I spent time on the USS Tarawa and the food was top notch and plenty of it including midrats.

USS America CV-66 1985-89 🇺🇸 breakfast, lunch, and dinner good hearty meals, lunch and dinner different every day, and steak and lobster about once a month. 4 meals a day at sea, working 8 hours on, 8 hours off 7 days a week, but in your 8 hours off you gotta eat, shower, maybe write a letter or even watch a movie so AND you had to be at your duty station. Mine was the boiler room, 140 degrees minimum at all times, some places 200 degrees. Anyway, you're lucky to get 4-6 hours of sleep after every shift. Usually get one or two meals a day and a box lunch (2 sandwiches & a fruit) at work. And milk was always served in the mess hall.
