if the cops towed it, then there was probable cause. This lady doesn't owe you anything. If you're going to park in front of someone's house for a week, maybe you should tell them.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned, since I didn't read all the comments.. If somebody parks a car in front of your house, of course you will notice. This is true for any State, any neighborhood. Is it legal to park there? Probably.. is it legal to leave it there, probably not. Seems like you would have your sister park her car in your driveway while you are away. If that wasn't possible, it seems logical that you would at the least ask the neighbor whose house you were going to park in front of. So if you didn't say anything to them, and left it there for days on end, it seems perfectly normal to me for them to call the police regarding an abandoned car left in front of their house. It could have been stolen and they were looking for it anyway.. The police are the ones who made the decision to tow the car, the neighbor wasn't going to call a tow truck service and have to pay for the removal.

In most cities it's illegal to park a vehicle on a public street for longer than 24 hours. In my city they mark the tire location and issue parking citations if someone habitually abuses that law

Well if you can afford Disney World you can afford to pay for the tow and I say police had it towed anywhere anytime over 24 hours even public streets can be towed

lol, small claims will hold this woman who had it towed accountable. the tow yard is too. I find this hard to believe, because tow company is smarter than this, they will ask for the property owner to sign for the tow, if they suspect there may be legal consequences. I call BS, this is a skit, no tow company is this dumb.

Go to small claims court with your money she had no reason to have your car towed. It’s a public street. She was only there for a day so we know what if you can’t pay the $500 to go Small Claims Court and get it that way right you’re asking to court mind your own business. The car was only there for a day.!!!!

How about calling the police before leaving. Ask about how long you can park on the street, otherwise ask for permission to park and if granted, they'll place you on alist that allows you to park there till you return so that your vehicle is not unintentionally towed. Also, ignorance of the law is not a defense. 🤔

After 72 hours a car can be towed if it doesn't move from that particular spot. But of course somebody had to call so it can get tagged. It looks pretty dead not like a big city not sure why it bothers people like stop looking out your living room window and get out of your house and mind your business. Bored people problems.

If it’s offstreet parking, they should not have had it towed. The tow company should not have taken it…. It’s not assigned parking. The street isn’t owned by anyone . The city or county is the only one that could do that . They should not have towed the car and I would fight the tow company in court.
Why didn't they have her sister park in HER spot since they took the kids to Disneyland...HER garage, HER driveway, in front of HER house (ask the neighbor who parks in front of HER house to park somewhere else till they're back from their trip...??? Actually public street or not, once the vehicle sits there for a few days and there’s no activity. The public can call it in to the police and they will come out and run the tags and flag it come back in a few days. Said vehicle still in the same spot then the police will call it in to have it towed. See this is what happens when you don’t have communication with your neighbors. So call the police and ask them to help you get your sisters car back before they return from Disney World.
