well I've been doing this almost 60 years, what's so new about this?
If everyone doesn't know this is how you're SUPPOSED to do it, to keep the angel food cake from falling, we are doomed as a species. That's why the pan is made like that!
Yum ….. a lamp that you can eat and drink. What a novel idea
That's how I was taught to do it and do it everytime. You're supposed to cool angel food cake like that. Some of you never spent time in the kitchen, as a child or an adult, and it shows.
Can you do that with other cakes or only the angel food cake?
I've been told this I'm going to try it 🥰
I bet a lot of people don’t even know what an angel food cake is
You don’t cook them upside down. But if you don’t cool them upside down they’ll deflate and fall.
that's always been done that way. be sure isles a glass bottle because plastic may melt
warm sponge rubber cake . .never got a chance to cool down as a kid if i was home
All depends on kind of angel food cake pan ! I have a very old one with the metal spikes around the top so you can just invert on counter without using a bottle! I’m sure there must be lots of us that have kind of pan!
My mom did that and so did my grandmom
I use a bottle to cool my fruit cakes
Nothing new or unusual. Everyone cools angel food cakes this way!
Used to use a glass ketchup bottle but now I use an old empty sparkling wine bottle
That’s how you’re supposed to cool an angel food cake. I’ve been doing this for 40 years.
Now we have a lamp
Why?
Both Angel food and chiffon cakes need to cool upside down. There are also pans that have the "feet" so no bottle is needed. They don't fall out because the pan is not buttered or greased. Delish!👍
my mother did that all the time
For all the Ladies who say, “Nothing new!!”, “ it’s nothing special!”, well yes it IS!! I’m 61 and have never baked an angel food cake!! My Mom was NEVER a baker. Not even cookies!!! She was a good cook, but she never had the patience to bake. I’ve never seen an Angel Cake baked before. I’ve Never seen this technique!! So thank you to those that explained the procedure and did not condensend to those of us who have never experienced this—Thank You!! Your Mamas and Grandmothers and Nonas would be SO proud of you❣️
Me too
What would be the result if left on the counter to cool off.
That's the only way to do it! and put a wet rag on top of it!
New to me! I bake, just not angel food cake, but I think I have a pan somewhere so might be motivation to give it a try
Of course, that's how you cool an angel food or it will collapse.
it's kind of stuck okay okay wow
Cardboard knitting cone. I heard the joke about a wine or champagne bottle opening when a chiffon cake is done your way. Myth busted?
we used a catsup bottle when they were glass. some of the new Gen doesn't know this.
I’m almost 80 and I even remember my mom did this
never made an Angel Food cake
that's how I was taught
Who is Jeff? Lol!
Lol what works🤔
why?
I set one of these pans on an RC cola bottle like this before to cool my angel 😇😇🙏🙏 food 🥝🥑 cake 🎂🎉.
and mom threw a cold damp rag over it.
I've been doing this for decades.
My Mother always did too💕
That’s how my mom did it
This is the way I was taught back in the 60s
that's how my mom did it all the time!👍
I put mine upside down on a funnel
does anyone know what a cooling rack is for, don't want the design of the rack on the cake parchment paper comes to mind plus if for God forbid reason it came out you transfer to plate on the paper
My Mom cooled her angel food cakes on a RC cola bottle! 💕
It doesn’t fall out because the pan sides are not greased like regular cake pans. That way the cake is able to latch onto the sides of the pan to increase in size as it cooks. I’m sure there are several younger bakers who like to learn these things about the ins and outs of angel food baking. 🌸 even though us older ladies may already learned same from ancestors.
I’ve been doing out for over 30 years. It does work.
I've been doing this since I was 10, that's 65 years ago! Only we used Coke bottles!
