If everyone doesn't know this is how you're SUPPOSED to do it, to keep the angel food cake from falling, we are doomed as a species. That's why the pan is made like that!

That's how I was taught to do it and do it everytime. You're supposed to cool angel food cake like that. Some of you never spent time in the kitchen, as a child or an adult, and it shows.

Can you do that with other cakes or only the angel food cake?

You don’t cook them upside down. But if you don’t cool them upside down they’ll deflate and fall.

All depends on kind of angel food cake pan ! I have a very old one with the metal spikes around the top so you can just invert on counter without using a bottle! I’m sure there must be lots of us that have kind of pan!

Both Angel food and chiffon cakes need to cool upside down. There are also pans that have the "feet" so no bottle is needed. They don't fall out because the pan is not buttered or greased. Delish!👍

For all the Ladies who say, “Nothing new!!”, “ it’s nothing special!”, well yes it IS!! I’m 61 and have never baked an angel food cake!! My Mom was NEVER a baker. Not even cookies!!! She was a good cook, but she never had the patience to bake. I’ve never seen an Angel Cake baked before. I’ve Never seen this technique!! So thank you to those that explained the procedure and did not condensend to those of us who have never experienced this—Thank You!! Your Mamas and Grandmothers and Nonas would be SO proud of you❣️

Cardboard knitting cone. I heard the joke about a wine or champagne bottle opening when a chiffon cake is done your way. Myth busted?

It doesn’t fall out because the pan sides are not greased like regular cake pans. That way the cake is able to latch onto the sides of the pan to increase in size as it cooks. I’m sure there are several younger bakers who like to learn these things about the ins and outs of angel food baking. 🌸 even though us older ladies may already learned same from ancestors.
