Overweight borders require flight plan amendment.
I heard from another source about this. Pilot lost contact with the other flight crew and wouldn’t open the door till Air traffic control told them the police was outside the door. He’s being safe. It could have been hijackers that stopped the communication to the flight crew. Good thinking.

When they get to a certain age and size they have the inability to chase people down. That is why they are usually higher ranking or detectives and the younger patrol officers do the running. Also at that age they are more receptive to sensitivity and deescalation training so they make better officers to deal with the type of people they would encounter in a confined space where they can't flee, they have been previously searched for weapons and they can easily overpower the person with their size and numbers if it becomes physical.
