I'm a survivor from hurricane helene living in east tennessee in the mtns. my wife lost damn near everything including our lives. we was told to hang tight by the ems they would send a raft to save us. the raft never came. as the day grew darker the water got higher. we are technically homeless because of this flood. homeless folks who almost died. I guess we fell through the cracks when news coverage rolled through cocke county. we live in a camper out in the front yard of the place the flood took from us. we lost both our vehicles. everything we owned was ruined and destroyed memories we clung to since we was kids. all gone. we have one another and thats it. thank heavens God spared us because hundreds if not thousands did not survive that flood last year.they say we are lucky to have survived that hurricane in the smokey mountains. how's being homeless considered lucky?
