I had something similar happen. My 6th grade teacher tried so hard to gain custody of me because my mom was abusing me and when she kept trying to no avail she did what she could and got my clothes, shoes, feminine products, hygiene stuff and she to this day still takes care of me. She buys my kids things and still helps me when I need it. If I didn’t have her I would not be who I am today.

I reported to one of the school teachers what was happening at home. She apparently called my stepmother to verify what I told her. Of course, my stepmother denied it and I got beaten for telling someone what was occurring in our house. I too contemplated suicide. I took a gun to bed, put the barrel in my mouth and lightly pulled on the trigger. I had absolutely no one that I could talk to other than my friends. I was fifty years old before a counselor helped me to come to terms with it. People don’t realize the deep scars that this treatment causes. I was four years old when I watched my mother and older brother die in a car accident. It was only two years before my dad remarried the Wicked Witch of the West. I endured this treatment from six years old to twenty, when I could finally go away to college. Nothing I ever did was good enough and I don’t remember a single time that I heard that I did a good job at anything.

I felt like this every day of my life as a child. The horrendous things they were doing to me eventually made me try to take my own life. It was the only way I could escape the pain. I’m so glad I finally got away from my family. I tried to get help, but it was impossible because the abuse was so bad that most people thought I was lying about it. My 8th grade teacher gave me sanctuary after my father beat me so severely that I almost died. I have never forgotten her kindness. God bless this little girl and this man who is so compassionate. Children shouldn’t have to grow up in fear of the people who are supposed to protect them.

I remember as a teenager we lived in the country and a girl we went to school with lived right down the road from us. She had to live with her Dad in Ohio, her Mom divorced him for abuse but she didn't have money to fight for custody. Well my friend was abused all the time so one night after everyone went to bed we walked down the road to her house with a ladder and put it up to her window and she locked her bedroom door and climbed out.

my son , just this week took in his daughter's best friend. her mother always blocked her out of the house among a lot of things. said when she turns 18 you are out. she is very sweet. two days ago the girls packed her stuff. they are still on school. mother never let her get her driving hours in. keeping her from any success. our son took her in both girls' birthday this month. he got a cake they made her a card. fhe cried. we are miles away but are going to visit and let her call us her grandparents sending birthday stuff going to be a wonderful Xmas for us all. he is such a wonderful man. and single because women today are just awful. I'm so proud to be his mom.

Thank God for helpers like that! In my day there was no CPS to help us children in abusive situations and no one got involved in other peoples families. I’m thankful for my Aunt and grandparents that helped me get out of it.
