1980 min wage 3.10 hr
No Home was 15k in 1980. mabey 75 or 100k
That's $100 today
that picture looks more 1960s
And no way $20 dollars bought all that food in 1980. Fake news ..
back when both parents werent at work.
I call BS !
that buggy of groceries today would be more than 400.00😆 seriously👍
maybe the 1950s
In the 70's we used to buy 5 bags of groceries for $27.
may be in 1969 but not the 8os
Lord help us now!!!!! America is going bankrupt thanks to trump
More like the 1950s
i made $3.30 an hour, that cart is more than $20. the house my wife and i bought was $35,000. it was 70 years old 1,200 sq ft. one bathroom 3 bedroom no garage. the picture is more like the 1950’s
A Republican was in office, Ronald Reagan,if it would have a been a Democrat you would carry it in a small bag.
I remember very well, I turned 16 that year. we didn't have to struggle so much for groceries and gas!
This was probably mid to late 1960s.
how true
Now you can walk out without paying and go to the house your squatting in.
1965 maybe
when i first got married and went to the grocery store with her in 1968 we actually did fill a grocery cart up with everything needed and it actually cost 20 dollars. now what can you get for that amount of money?
yes but those times are gone
my parents built a 2 story 3 bedroom house in 79 and soup to nuts it cost around 85grand. I think you 15k is low and 20$ is low also. but I gut what your saying. also you could get a gumball from a machine for a penny and the pay phone was a dime for 3minutes local calls only.
Bring back those grocery store prices
my folks bought a 1800 square ft hose in 71 fir 14G payment was $78 a month I was 14 in 71 daddybsold In 96 for$90G when my mom died saw it listed 2 weeks ago for 150G
and min wage was 1.50 , there was not all the government give aways . USA has moved more socialist and inflation has soared
I’m not too sure if that’s $20 worth of groceries even back then I would set us closer to 30
right... bc it had nothing to do with our government printing money 😆
1980s... thats was before democrats ruined the economy
and she made $3 an hour. all relative folks
Definitely, she paid more than $20. for all those groceries
remember our first house was a nice brick house 1970s great it was 20 thousand with a couple acres my uncle still has it 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms nice
sorry ,but that's a lot more than$20 dollars, even in 1980, how do I know because I was out Working in 1980 and at no x could I buy this amt of food for only20 bucks, try again folks
Man I was 14 and remember helping my moms with a trunk full of groceries miss these days💯💯💯💯💯💯
The clothes are definitely 70s
and her husband brought home about $20k a year and she didn't work. no the husband brings home 65k a year and lives in a $350k which is beyond their means. so now what is your point?
Where was this? Not New Jersey or Georgia Maybe back in ‘68. Not ‘80’s
Not in 1980. No way.
That dollar was backed by gold!!
We are very frugal and $200 for us we don’t even need a cart. 2 bags in each hand and walk out shaking our heads. But people who have all day to shop and EBT cards have full carts, and pretty nice cars, but good for them I guess.🥴
Inflation is real we should be printing money not borrowing money
not true,25,000 was the norm in the late 70's
That's what years of inflation has done!
um no. you mean 1920
in 1960s houses were around 11k , it jumped to 20k by 1965.
the good old days! would be nice to have it back.
my parents bought a 3 br 1 bath with detached garage and shed sitting on an acre of land and only paid $10,000 in 1966. house payments were only $74/month.
I was a realtor in the late 70s and another of 4 . She must have lived in a tiny shack on the wrong side of town and a lot of coupons to have spent only 20.00 dollars on those groceries
She must be making at least $1.25 / hour
As the dollar becomes worth less, saving money is "an upstream" effort. 5% interest just barely keeps ahead of the loss from inflation. However the national debt also becomes becomes worth less.
$15,000. Right... cardboard box is not a house.
those days are long gone
