Raise your 🤚if you've ever worked in a restaurant. 🤚In highschool and during the multiple "Republican recessions during the 80s and 90s. Every restaurant I worked at gave employees a free meal. You couldn't order the expensive dishes like a bone-in prime rib dinner, but pretty much every thing else was ok.

fast food workers work their asses off. employees should get one free meal a day as long as it's still rung up and comped. it's when you don't feed them that's when they steal.

I didn’t care about that rule and never got into trouble when I sat down to eat because in like life I worked and busted my butt every time I worked. Other co workers didn’t like that I got special treatment but I actually didn’t. I worked.. so work..

In the 70's every fast or nice restaurant let us eat free. McD, BK, Italian dine in and even Steak and Ale (no prime rib tho). Businesses today don't give a shit about their employees, just the money. Which is why no one wants to put forth any effort.

Used to work at a Steakhouse years ago. Owner always asked me if I wanted the leftovers that he did not sell for the night. He knew I came from a large Family. He was a sweetheart and so very kind. My Family loved it. They don’t do that anymore cuz of restrictions. But it was Awesome!

So some of the employees are eating the food and not ringing it up. So, the owner decided from now on anyone else who does not pay for their food will pay $100 out of their paycheck. While I agree that employers (especially who have food on hand) should feed the employees while they’re on the clock, I absolutely get the owners’ point for wanting the stuff to be paid for rather than given out.

although I feel like restaurant workers shouldn't be forced to pay for their food if of course it's eaten during their break, I'd understand the owner charging half price or maybe his or her cost as long as the employee clears it with management and it's for them and not someone else especially a non employee person.
