NEVER leave your shoes outside overnight. My brother’s SIL lost a leg because of a recluse spider being on her shoe. Or you could have a scorpion up in that shoe - if you live in the SW (US). And heaven forbid you live in Australia! Then again I’m going to assume no one down there would ever do this.
I found a Cicada in my boot once. Every time I would shake it, it would make noise. When I finally shook it 4 or 3 times, I peered inside, and it flew out and hit me in the forehead!
