After reading the ridiculousness in these comments , here’s some respectfully given information: The cultural practice of wearing rings around the neck to elongate it is most famously associated with the Kayan people (sometimes called Padaung), an ethnic subgroup of the Karenni people from Myanmar (Burma) and northern Thailand. *Beauty and identity – In Kayan culture, a long neck is considered a mark of beauty and elegance. *Cultural tradition – The coils are a visible symbol of cultural identity and belonging, distinguishing Kayan women from other groups. *Protective or mythic beliefs – Some oral traditions say it protects women from tiger bites, while others connect it to ancestral myths. FYI. Neck rings as adornment do exist in Africa (especially among the Ndebele), but the dramatic neck “elongation” practice is primarily associated with the Kayan in Southeast Asia.
While we may not wear brass neck rings it's a welcome practice of many Tribes.....versus wearing rings in ears and noses

It’s sad that women in some cultures do something to get a mate. Having to disfigure their bodies. I read in China some women would bind their feet starting at a young age & they keep binding them to keep them small . Their feet are permanently disfigured. I’m not sure if they do it to get a mate. But tiny feet were desirable! Pictures of their feet without the binds on their feet look painful!

Prime example of crazy beauty standards and rituals that should be outlawed. Majority of these rituals and standards happens in places where they are pretty much isolated from the modern world and better education about the damage these longstanding practices do. Just like in China, foot binding used to be popular. And it left the women in tremendous pain and also crippled for the rest of their lives.

Those probably stink something nasty! Cleaning the outside doesn't take care of all the shed of skin cells on the inside. They wear those for sometimes years & just add rings to em as they stretch. Idk...but if that's what they want more power to em! 🥰
