My husband has had a knee replacement, followed by a severe staph infection in that knee, which required months of antibiotics; which did not completely cure the staph; followed by a surgery to clean out the infection; followed by an evaluation that indicated the infection was still active; followed by a removal of the knee replacement and an insertion of an antibiotic spacer for an 8-month period with no knee and a 24-hour antibiotic drip to attempt to eradicate the existing infection; followed by a reinsertion of a new knee replacement and an attempt to remove all the scar tissue from the previous surgeries. Result: a complete chaos. He cannot bend that knee; cannot climb stairs anymore; cannot exercise without pain; cannot walk without a cane or walker; I can go on but you get the picture.

Since we're all sharing our x-rays I figured I'd share mine. I must say that PT was rough! I only did 8 weeks of it at home, and I never did any outpatient PT, so I do still have a lot of pain in the new knee. I've decided against doing the other knee, too painful!

I'm 63 and had both my knees totaled replaced 4 months apart. the first 3 weeks are the hardest after that it was smooth sailing on both of them ice ice ice is your best friend it's been 1 year for the rt knee December 30th and will be 1 year for the left knee on April 21, 2026. Would I do it over again if I had too. YES without a doubt to be able to have my same results I would. 💯‼️

so that piece ends up being his kneecap? The part that goes into his leg bone doesn't look long enough. I've also heard knee surgery is brutal, but every person I know who's had a knee replacement, said the end result was so worth it all! I hope so, because I'm scheduling mine this week. I'm 68 years old. 🙏💕

WHOA. my dad had both of his done in 2008. Remember coming home for Christmas & my aunt stopped by the house. I noticed my dad wasn't home so I just thought he was at work as usual. when my aunt walked in she the started to tell me that my uncle had died, the in laws house about 100 yeats away had burned down & my dad was in the hospital & i didn'tknow any of this. The ONLY good thing was that my dad got out the that day & I went to pick him up. Remember how much pain he was in every time I hit a bump or had to stop. He said it felt like his legs were coming off when I was stopping. I held it together till we got home & him situated. I went on a 3 to 6 hour hike around the lake at the park down the road & cried the WHOLE time. Knew replacements are NO JOKE & don't look forward to it at all if I have to have it done.

I had total replacement on both knees, not that bad. Better than the pain before surgery. Nerves take awhile to regenerate.

I've had both my knees totally replaced. One in 1999 and the other in 2001. They say a replacement knee only last 12 to 15 years before you would need to have it replaced again. So far I've lucked out. I had a fantastic surgeon. It is now 2026 and I still have both knees and haven't needed the 2nd replacements. I don't have pain in either one of them. Just a little stiffness getting up if I sit too long. I obtained my surgeon through Cleveland clinic sports medicine. The doctor I had is now retired. His name was Doc Brooks. I thank him everyday for a job well done. If I didn't have the surgery, I would have been in a wheelchair right now.

Looks like the prosthetic component for the medial condyle of the femur and it’s quite possible that it’s part of a Total Knee Arthroplasty.

This xray is revision surgery repair of snapped patellar tendon after total knee replacement. Recovery after this surgery required 8 weeks in a full leg cast (non weight bearing) miserable surgery, recovery and physical therapy!

I have 3 screws and surgical wire holding my knee cap closed. My first break of a bone, ever!! I was 70.. I did all PT and have good range of motion, an injection or 2.. Tylenol is all I need now! Y’all be careful, it seems home can be dangerous!

I had my ACL reconstructed when I was 19, and the Dr gave me Tylenol 3 , I got more relief if I took 2 regular Tylenol. I didn't realize why I was hurting so bad, I thought it was normal to hurt (that much) after surgery. But I've had no problems since thank gosh!

I had a tkr and have issues. Surgery was wonderful (Great Surgeon). My knee range of motion was 60%. Had to an anesthesia manipulation therapy which setback my recovery due to an avulsion fracture from the AMT. After 4 months, I'm finally beginning to feel better and walk with a cane. You will need to take the pain meds at first to be able to sleep. Everybody heals differently. Do your research and make sure you're ready for the process. ❤️ 🙏
