It adds to the deficit if the amount being put into it doesn’t cover the amount coming out of it. If you receive 100,000 in SS taxes a month , but have to pay out 150,000 a month in SS payments.. you’ll go into a deficit very quickly. Variables like increases in cost of living & increases in life expectancy contribute to this over decades of time. Don’t get me wrong, I believe the social security problem could be addressed, but we can’t sit there and act like it’s not a problem at all.

I worked for 30+ years, until suffering (2) Cardiac Arrests, which caused me to lose the function of my Liver and Kidney's, went on Dialysis, accrued (7) hospital stays, 38-units of blood infused, and finally a Liver/Kidney Transplant, the 8-months of Physical/Occupational Therapy, then I had my Disability/Medicare placed on "HOLD" status, so that I could return to work! I've been back 17-months now, and still paying into S.S.!! I used SSDI when work wasn't an option, but was grateful to give it back, and return to the "working class" again!!

and just to let you know when they do give you a social security it's barely enough to survive on and many can't even have their own place there are so many people homeless because the government gives them so little after working and paying taxes for 40 50 years.

Lyndon B. Johnson took Social Security out of its trust and put it into government funds that is why Social Security is going broke because our glorious politicians have had their fingers in it since Lyndon B. Johnson‘s presidency but you know what you never hear about welfare going broke and they don’t pay into that system
