Okay, what path? Because it can't be a free ride. Work legitimately, pay taxes, be productive, law abiding, honest. Provide your own insurance, healthcare, automotive, home/renters. pay your bills on time. No bankruptcy. Water, trash, gas, electric. All this is ridiculously expensive but it can be made to work if you're persistent and it pays off after about 50 years. Come on in and join us. No. They should voluntarily leave, and if they do, then have a path. But no one choosing to be illegal here should be rewarded for violations of law.
The path forward should be voluntarily returning to their country and coming back the right way. And even then only if their is an absolute guarantee that they will be wholly self sufficient and never need any type of public assistance or welfare.

Plain and simple, it needs to happen the way my mother and her family came from Italy. You enter through a given point (ellis island) and you'll will be selected for a visa with a background check. Yes it takes time but at least we know whose coming into the US. Coming in on your own is illegal and you should be sent straight back to where you came from. Our government has gotten to lenient with the laws that are already on the books. We vote them in and we expect them to do the right thing.
