All my life (especially when told to read the constitution), I have known that we live in a Republic (important enough of a fact that it was written into the Pledge of Allegiance). Do we have Democratic ways (people having a voice in everything, i.e., voting)? Yes, and as with all voting, the majority wins. Where did America fail these people in understanding what this country is?

Our founding fathers were elitists? Did you know that George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, James Madison and James Monroe were all farmers? Many of the so-called "elitists" throughout history are perceived and taught about as misinformation. Many started with nothing and became self-made influencers. Much like today and from the beginning of time, if you want to succeed, it takes success, failures, and success again, along with determination, tenacity, perseverance and never taking no for an answer, topped with a dream and the focus on doing good for a community. Envy and jealousy is not an admirable trait and will never get you anywhere in life.

When I was a kid you recited the pledge of Allegiance to the Flag everyday. Everyone knew we lived in a Republic, and in the greatest country in the world. Even if you were if a different religion than your neighbor you didn't argue about it. You afforded them the same grace they gave you and all lived by the Golden Rule. DO TO OTHERS WHATEVER YOU WOULD LIKE THEM TO DO TO YOU.
