If your going to restrict then it’s needs to be done for everyone not just the poor but for the ones pushing for this bill. You just don’t know that, this is just a steeping stone for what’s about to come. They are starting with the poor but it will also affect the rich . Just wait and watch.

My opinion is that with this program they can only buy healthy foods. If they want to buy sweets, sodas and junk food, then let them pay for it themselves.

They should have NEVER been able to use EBT for sodas, energy drinks, candy, prepared deserts, and chips! Here's my main problem...I work on the retail business. I have seen people driving a $60,000 jeep, & more gold on them than Fort Knox! If people can afford to pay for that high dollar vehicle they can afford to buy food! It's time the government involved! There's people who can't get EBT that need it! Like our VETS! way to go ON CHANGING THIS!

it's a shame that lower income people are being discriminated against. they want you to buy healthy, but do not give you enough food stamps to purchase the higher healthier foods. No prepared foods for working parents to stick a frozen lasagna in the oven, after working all day during the week. shame on Them
I'm all for healthier options for all. However, many people have restrictions, allergies and other variables that may prevent them from eating it. Not to mention the high prices of food let alone healthy food prices. I would hold the corporations accountable to reduce the cost for those buying with foodstamps in order for the healthy options to be at a reasonable cost for recipients. Those include families and elderly and disabled

As someone on snap. I do not care,without it we wouldn’t eat. I’ll gladly take what we can get. It is what it is, we don’t use that for those things. We don’t have enough for the month if we do.

Heart disease due to obesity is the leading cause of death in America. Medicaid spends billions every year obesity caused health issues. People should eat what they want, but the taxpayers should not have to pay for people to get fat then get unhealthy from it.

The government as far back as 1930’s supplied powdered milk, peanut butter, canned meat, and powdered eggs they also butter, rice, flour, cornmeal, and canned goods. These products were handed out at town halls and churches.
I remember when I was first many many many years ago. My sister was on assistance. I had a pad of paper to get the necessities, and hopefully had enough for a treat. I would bake my own cookies. I added carefully to make sure I had enough money. My sister on the other had had her cart overflowing with meats, twinkle, Doritos, cookies, sodas, and everything else. I had very little in comparison. I started waiting in the car when I drove her to the store, because it so unfair. My husband and I were working, and couldn't afford anything. We were married with child at 19.
As someone who has EBT this isn't necessarily a bad thing. I just wish they would allow for cakes during the people's birthday months. Just one small cake. We have to give our birthdays anyways. Why not allow it like that?

When Original food stamps started you could only food. No candy, processed snacks or soda. This is not a new concept.

Personally I think it's a good idea. I think it could happen and should happen. However on the practical side it does not make sense. The reason being the EBT card amount will go less further. Healthier foods are way more expensive. No matter how you look at it the EBT card will have to be stretched further and it's more expensive to buy the raw ingredients to cook
