I had this done in the early 90’s. It was purely due to functionality issues. They said I’d look different but couldn’t give me any idea what that might look like. I moved forward and all functionality issues resolved. After all the swelling went down (which took a good year), I did look much better although I was happy with how I looked before. 30+ years later my only complaint is I sometimes get a painful muscle spasm in my right masseter. A good muscle relaxer takes care of it but doctors don’t like giving those out these days so I just do my best to get by until it eventually resolves. The surgery was totally worth it.
I had lower jaw surgery back when I was in my early 40s... in conjunction with orthodontia... no regrets! and I'm 75 now. always hated to smile before.... smile all the time now! and no more headaches too!

I remember in middle school when a classmate had this done. he couldn't move his jaw at all. it got him out of having to real aloud 😆. but fr he ended up being one of the hottest when we got to hs.
