The whale is going up to the surface of the water so he can get a fresh breath 🫁 of air before he goes back down into the abyss to finish devouring the squid . we are lucky to have gotten to witness what these giant whales and squid do to each other . When sperm whale have washed ashore they have found squid beaks in the stomach. Also you will see the round scaring from the tentacles on the skin of the whales.

The truly amazing thing here, is the fact that the squid was found with the sonar you hear clicking and squeaking in the background. A giant squid lives down where lots of creatures create their own light. Im wondering if that squid can even survive in the comparative low pressure of the surface. They don't come up to the surface, unless they are attacking a pirate ship.lol.

Listening you can hear the whale using ecolocation to determine where it is and how much further to be able to eat. In the middle of the clicks you can hear the squid send outs bit of a shreik. imagine, a teeny tiny Bat smaller than your fist and a giant Sperm Whale use the exact system of echolocation to navigate. Look closely you can see the Whale's teeny tiny eye.

im betting theres a few things going on like the squid is for sure biting , the whale loosens his grip maybe to lessen that wound, the whale takes his air from the suface and can resurface without decompression, the squid is aquatic and breathes in the water and is breathing compessed water air at depth, so by bringing the squid to the suface suddenly it causes the benz. i used to scuba dive im not a deep sea fisherman maybe someone who knows can correct me but that squid is hurting
