There's nothing dangerous about pouring salt on cooking oil. Even if it's boiling. So the only thing I can think of that landed someone in the hospital is that someone slipped an hurt themselves.

not true yes if you put salt around boiling hot oil yes it can pop n burn you but it's not going to explode like there makin it out to do it'll help the smoke
