It's not double the price. Tomatoes are sold by the pound, fresh or dehydrated. By taking the water out of the tomato and selling it, you need more of the tomato skins to make the weight of a fesh tomato, so you need to charge double or triple the cost of a fresh tomato. Also dried tomatoes are more labor intensive driving up the cost of a tomato half. Common Sense people. BTW it is the middleman who make the most money distributing it from the farm to the markets.
