Incident Details: Parents Nayeli Mendez, 29, and Silvestre Flores, 27, returned home from Six Flags around 11:30 p.m. on a night in late June/July 2024. They removed seven other children from the car but forgot the 3-year-old in her car seat. Discovery: The child was discovered by a neighbor the following morning, crying and distressed, having been alone for at least 8 hours. Condition: The toddler was found soiled but alive and, after evaluation by paramedics, was determined to be physically unharmed. Charges: Both parents were arrested and charged with misdemeanor child endangerment. Context: Reports indicated the parents had 11 pending DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services) cases.

How do you not realize that your “WHOLE” baby is unaccounted for? Seriously!!! I certainly hope that baby was okay. I don’t think there is any circumstance where a child is left in a car and we say. “oh, it was simply a mistake. Anyone guilty of this crime, because it is a crime, should be put in a cell and forgotten about.
