Cagney was a hoofer and a great athlete. He ALSO had more confidence onscreen to DO what he had to do than most could summon up. James Cagney was one of the film industry's greatest treasures. And, it showed.

Cagney was an amazing actor and dancer. This is from the movie Yankee Doodle Dandy. Cagney played George M. Cohan, a producer, a song writer and star on Broadway. He wrote a great number of patriotic songs for both WWI and WWII. Cagney did a fantastic job in the role. Many of his fans didn’t realize how great a dancer he was.

There has been no one since the golden age in Hollywood as talented as the actors/actresses of that era. Stars today don't care what kind of performance they give. They would rather offer stupid opinions and support other countries rather than their own. Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington are about the only ones who come close.

George M. Cohan didn't wright any songs for WW2, at the end of the movie they were singing "OVER THERE", as the Army was marching down the street, and a Sergeant said to him, don't you know this song oldtimer, and he joined in singing it with them, they were reviving it from WW1.
