my only DUI was 43 yrs ago. I knew I couldn't drive so put keys on radiator and got back in car to sleep. was woke being drug out of car by female cop. was arrested, jailed and had my $300.00 just cashed paycheck $$ stolen. cop let my friend also sleeping take my car that she crashed on way home. turns out cop was being investigated for stealing $$ from others. never got my $$ back.

Yep the cops will try charge and the Prosecutor is gonna try to make it stick. Law??? Who cares. Now days it is all about their conviction rates. I hate to say it. I have always respected cops. But lately the District Attorneys don't give a rat's backside about legal! For them it is all about their conviction rates & $$&. Thank goodness this young man made the right choice to stay safe! Thank goodness the judge still has COMMON SENSE!😲👍🏼

any cop that arrest somebody for sleeping in a car when they're drunk even if the car is running for heat or keys and ignition if this guy had enough sense to pull over and sleep that cop's a bigger chump than normal

Kid was 💯 correct. However if one is asleep in the car while being under the influence, and the keys are in the ignition even if the subject was in the back seat they can be charged with DUI. I've done this a couple times myself, and I would always put my keys in the center counsel or the glove box. Got woken up a couple times, but after I told them what was going on, and showed them where my keys were. They actually would usually thank me for being responsible, and to have a good night.

Police did me as such i went to sleep locked my keys in a tool lockbox called a ride my wife.who was at work. called my boy 30 mins away. police put me in the back of their vehicle started arguing who got da keys, they searching me like 4 more times. I waited til the Sgt showed up said hey they ain't found my keys cuz I wasn't going to drive no mo and I called my ride and hid my keys from myself. however in my breast pocket is a key that'll unlock the lock in that lock box. Judge told me to get out if his courtroom
