It’s not a stereotype if it’s true
It’s incredibly disrespectful to show up late. It’s even more disrespectful to make the birthday person wait to start their birthday meal because they’re being selfish about not prioritizing being there for them. These people need to be more responsible and respectful. In my family, we arrive early and never come empty handed.

I have a niece who is chronically late so we when we tell her what time to be there, we always say to be there 30 - 40 minutes before the real time. We joke that we are on real time and Jessica is on Jessica time
All of my aunts and my mom are extremely punctual lol. If I tell them dinner it's at 6, they will be in the parking lot by 5:30 asking questions. They hate wasting time and they hate being late to something they agreed to. They are very much so the "if you're on time you are late" type of people lol

It's all Culture time! When I plan a dinner/event at a specific time and you're late, I start without you! I'm not waiting when others have arrived on time. It's blatant disrespect when certain ones are never, ever on time.

Same thing at my in-laws. Maddening . But, when I host the event at my home they have learned that when I say we are eating at 1pm, we who are there eat at 1pm, when those in attendance are done eating, I clear the food and do the dishes. Those who come late better have stopped at McDonald’s because the kitchen is closed.

I would give a time that I would be serving dinner n give an hour for chatting n final stuff. allowing me an extra hour for a shower n getting dressed. so dinner at 3 meant come at 3 we eat at 4. dang if they didn't show up when my hair was a mess, I hadn't finished cleaning the house or taken a shower. some coming at noon. digging in the fridge looking for snacks,. I was so upset. last time I hosted.
