The is a women near me that traps strays, takes them to the human society and they neuter or spay them and then she sets them free again after a day or two. We are always going to have strays this way they can’t breed. It’s very very hard to domesticate a feral cat.

Vets give me a discount when I rescue a stray cat. Had 7 kittens I rescued they were loaded with fleas , eye infections and in pretty poor shape they were 3 weeks old approximately. Vet charged 140.00 for all the meds antibiotics and eye ointment. They treated them for the fleas. I had them about 4 weeks gave them all away except 2.

Our neighborhood is full of feral cats constantly breeding, as two neighbors on the street feed them all and even provide shelter, but don’t take them to animal shelter to get them spade or neutered for free. I started feeding one little black/calico, because she’s so much smaller than the rest, but she won’t let me near her, and it looks like she has an eye infection. I say she, but I don’t know her actual gender. Now we have a different one who comes onto our back porch thru dog door to get out of the cold. I don’t chase him/her off, as it’s been below freezing on and off past couple of weeks. Dogs don’t appear as if they’ve smelled or seen him/her back there.

looks like gotvin fight with other cat, got scratched, abcess, and it ruptured. leaves a big open wound hole. usually can heal, but needs cleaning and care.maybe antibiotics to heal correctly.

it could be a flea issue, or a skin condition. that spot can be reached by their back claws. i had a siamese cat years ago and the vet told me white cats can have dry skin and are more likely to have allergies. as crazy as it sounds. I had to treat her all the time. she was such a happier cat then.

Her neck almost looks like a collar was too tight and rubbed a raw spot on it. I don’t think it’s anything bad and can be healed.
