but where does the water go once its under the concrete that could cause big problems
Meanwhile in Japan... heated sidewalks and sprinklers spray the roads with hot water that melts the snow and ice... There's also some places here in the states that use this technology... I think all cities should implement this on their main roads. 👍
We make this here in Pa. It's called permeable concrete. It works by not adding sand. It's very porous this way.
SOOOO. WHAT happens to ALL of that WATER , ???? IS it channeled. out thru the. side of the ROAD , because if it goes straight down into the ground beneath the road , won't that weaken the road ??? 🤔🤔🤔
that's how all new parking lots are made, due to laws in my area regarding water shedding.
I know you don't expect us to think that little thing is holding all that water
it's used in parking lots in many places.
i absolutely understand that comment. the ground underneath cant absorb that much water quickly. during floods etc places fill up with water & we have to wait until its either absorbed through the ground or air. on top of that what thw result of heating. cities tend to be a lot hotter with more asphalt homes etc are areas going to have major mosquito populations as a result of the stagnant water. in addition as the water goes through this concrete seeping into the ground whats the amount of concentrated chemicals now leeching into the ground that had to go through a chemical barrier? i have a lot of questions? all water travels once absorbed into the ground this new chemical will be in the food we eat the animals we eat our kids will be drinking & eating this as well. what is the long term effects environmentally this will have?
America can't afford this because we gave hugh tax breaks to the wealthy.
I don’t think they put much thought into it
it drank all that H2O lmbo
what the heck is going on,,?
Still have to figure out the base so the it drains water away without undermining the road way. The water still have to go somewhere.
That will save lives. That really is amazing.
I think that's asphalt... it's probably on top of a lot of gravel for this demonstration which isn't practical for Highway use when asphalt is laid on top of very compacted dirt and or gravel
Until it freezes and expands and cracks the pavement.
bad idea
but where is the water going? stays in the road? does it go straight through and funnel under the road (erosion problems?)
it causes cancer
Everyone asking where water goes.... It typically evaporates... That's where it typically goes lol
So what happens when it becomes saturated? Now instead of water runoff, you have a pool. Defeats purpose unless it can drain somewhere else.
Cool!! But man that must be 💰💰💰
concrete zl1
?
What's the maximum capacity and how long will the structural integrity of what's underneath the concrete? How long will it hold up until it collapses?
Water is incompressible. So based on volumetric scale, this can’t be real unless there is a drain.

Sweet!
Sorry, but I think thats Black top.
Wonder if all that water getting absorbed doesn't end up causing a sinkhole down the line?
yeah but about a freeze thaw cycle compounded with salt.
and creates huge sinkholes
Already proven to cause more issues than it solves.
I used to design asphalt that does that!!!
wonder what it looks like after a good freeze
They put in some sidewalks made of this. Algae growth blocked it up.
all water goes somewhere, into the yards on the side of the road
Ya. What’s it do once saturated and freezes. Good luck
Where does it go? Does it wash away sand underneath it?
Pervious concrete. Great in climates that don't freeze.
that's not concrete
What about the oil and antifreeze and other things that it soaks up? Mainly oil tho
ya cool in every city I've lived in more road taxes go to paying drug dealers for new rims they broke in pot holes then to maintaining the road for tax payers who use it to get to work so uh ya anyway
That's asphalt.
until it gets dirty
try that anywhere it snows it'll last a month
Thanx4no detailz👍
is that Fremont CA
