As much as I would like to agree there are currently no laws supporting a ban of a specific religious from holding office. Instead the 1st Amendment is contrary to that idea. Establishment Clause: Prohibits the government from establishing a religion or favoring one religion over another. Free Exercise Clause: Protects individuals' rights to practice their religion freely, as long as it does not violate public order or other laws.
