I lived in Colorado most of my life. I've never seen anyone tapping on the windshield to scrap ice. It's called a windshield scraper for a reason.

use the scraper properly with the spiky ends first then scrape it it breaks up the ice a lot easier
Let your car run awhile before you try to get the ice off silly. Much less work

it's called a defroster a reason ice cold water works the best if in a hurry but turn ur defrost on the low settings so it will still allow the heater to build up heat

Really warm water in sealed gallon zip lock bag. Just take the bag and drag across the windows. It will melt it good enough to clear windows.

No arguments here. The best thing to do in this situation is to put a blanket or thin cover on your windshield. The next day, pull it off, and you won't have to worry about snow or ice on your windshield. If you didn't do this and there is ice on your windshield, use the back of the ice scraper and scrape it. Then, use the other side to scrape off the broken-up ice. This is good to know if your car doesn't have heat, as some of mine haven't in the past.

One time I was waiting for my mom to get in the truck and the windshield had ice all over it. While it was warming up I was bored and hit the inside for fun and the entire windshield made like a wingspan from the top center I was horrified. Mom wasnβt mad but I was so scared at first haha.
