He didn’t stop her because of the seat belt, he stopped her because of the Dealer Tag on the car, which was not probable cause to stop. Not all LE Officers behave this way. This makes the rest of them look bad.

I got pulled over and I did the exact same thing, I took off my seatbelt before he got to my window. Totally habit! The cop almost gave me a ticket for it, but thankfully I “only” got a speeding ticket.
Say nothing. Let him ticket you for not having a seatbelt on. Then bring the ticket and the dashcam video with you to court to show the cop was lying.

I think the first time an officer intentionally lies to get themselves out of trouble or manipulate any records or documents should mean the loss of their badge and the end if their career as an officer.
Now this time, I'm going to side with the driver. I usually defend the officer because they are usually correct. This time, the officer is 100% wrong. The ticket will absolutely be thrown out. The probable cause for the officer was the seatbelt. That's the reason he stated to pull her over. The video footage shows her clearly wearing her seatbelt, which means he had no probable cause. The judge has to throw it out now because that eliminated his reason to pull her over.
