If ICE officer Jonathan Ross had lawfully arrested Renee Good and brought her into custody, the government could have tested its accusations in court, with counsel, a jury, and the ordinary guarantees of due process. Shooting an unconvicted citizen in the face on a Minneapolis street is the very definition of a summary execution, not due process, and it bypasses every safeguard the Constitution requires before the state may take a life. As a former police officer who arrested many genuinely dangerous people without ever having to shoot anyone, this kind of on‑scene killing reads not as measured law enforcement, but as an unlawful use of deadly force. When suspects fled or resisted, we pursued, captured, and prosecuted them; we did not appoint ourselves judge, jury, and executioner simply because we believed they “deserved” it.
