They are only required to give you your discharge summary. It will have the reason for her visit and their recommdation for follow-up with your PCP. Your treatment, testing and results are a part of your medical records which you can get through the records department like everyone else. As a retired nurse myself, I have encountered Karens like this one who tried my patience with their ignorance of how hospitals operate. I think they handled it very well.

My discharge papers said I had been treated with a drug that the nurse said the pharmacy did not have. The ER doc asked me how I was doing after the med. I told him I never got it, yet it was in my discharge papers. When I asked for an itemized bill I was charged for it. I went to billing and asked them to contact the Chief Pharmacist. I wanted to see inventory for that drug on that day. He came and was very testy, but finally checked. That particular ( controlled ) medication had not been in pharmacy inventory for over four months. Check and double check everything. Just because a doctor orders something in your chart does not mean you got the service or medication

I'm in the medical field. And it sounds like she's in the ER department. If they had treated her during the time of this video she'd know.Plus they would be on her discharge papers. They have more than likely treated her for this problem in the past If she's a pain seeker and not following up with her PC doctor or Specialist that's why they are discharging her. Because she's not following up in order to correct the issue.

My best friend was in a Catholic Hospital here with kung cancer and her Dr came in to tell us there was nothing else they could do for her (she had drain tube in her side). The hospital nurses came in and told us we had to remove her by 11 that morning or they would put her out. Lucky we found a space in a hospice facility that had room for her. I tell everyone I meet to stay away from that a money hungry hospital.

I saw another video and the patient has tonsil stones. Not an EMERGENCY and this patient is refusing to leave the ER. She is taking a bed from someone who actually needs it.

You have the right to go to Medical Records and provide correct identification and request a copy of your medical forms. You must pay for each page. You get a copy of your discharge papers. THAT IS ALL THE NURSES AND DOCTORS HAVE TO PROVIDE YOU.

The patient has the right to see all her medical records, but FIRST she has to call the medical records office and have them prepare copies to give her. Retired RN House Supervisor, and we dealt with this type of demanding patient a LOT.

I'm confused, doesn't the discharge paperwork explain what was done? Didn't they tell her how they treated her our doesn't she already know how they treated her condition? don't we all have a hole in the back of our throat?

Wrong. They treat EMERGENCIES, not illnesses that need to be cared for in a less crisis type setting. RN for over 50 years here. Always the same people with the same problems who were either fired by their own doctors for not following treatment recommendations and then blaming the providers for their problems, or those who want to milk the systems. This sounds like one of them. ERs don't treat ongoing medical issues. This is why health care costs are spiralling. Those with insurance have to subsidize all those who use the system for free healthcare. That's why you can pay your bill for cash at a much lower cost than what insurers are billed. Scamming is going on from both the patient and the insurers end. it did not used to be this way but when you are subsidizing millions who don't work, this is what happens.

The hospitals emergency room is a band aide they patch you up to go to your primary doctor then they send you to where they want you treated. So best to go to primary first. I learned that many years ago. Only to hospital if an emergency

If you don't regulate healthcare this is what you get! If you dont regulate healthcare insurance companies this is what you get! If you dont regulate pharmaceutical companies this is what you get! Unfortunately, for all of us some Americans hate regulations! Yeah! Now our hospitals kill over 300,000 people a year in our dirty hospitals from infections they received while in hospital? If you can not answer the questions of a patient how can you discharge them? If there are no treatments rendered there should be no charges.

Upon discharge from hospital or doctors office, there’s always a writeup of the situation and there’s always papers to be signed and the discharge form will have on at your treatment in and after your visit
