The U.S. has numerous government programs with socialist characteristics, providing social safety nets and public services, including large systems like Social Security (pensions/disability), Medicare (elderly healthcare), and Medicaid (low-income healthcare), alongside food assistance (SNAP), housing support, public education, unemployment insurance, public infrastructure (roads, libraries, parks), and regulations like the minimum wage, all funded by taxes for the common good.  Here's a list of key examples: Retirement & Disability Social Security: Provides retirement, disability, and survivor benefits, funded by payroll taxes. Supplemental Security Income (SSI): Cash assistance for aged, blind, and disabled people with limited income.  Health Care Medicare: Government health insurance for people 65 and older. Medicaid & Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP): Health coverage for low-income families and individuals.
