nope that is pointless im a mechanic and other than defrost purposes that is not necessary the satest and fastest way to warm an engine is just drive it the transmission is geared to keep the engine at lower rpm as long as u don't rev the pisd out of it it's the safest and fastest way to get oil to the proper components of the engine idle in cold weather with thick oil had no slosh to move it up into the top end that's why top ends of engines go so often just drive it keep the top half oiled gravity and viscosity play a huge factor
I can't believe these guys are mechanics and saying this. absolutely no need to warm car up for any reason other than heat in the winter.
oh look young kids that learn how to change a brake pad.. better listen to their opinion on how to operate my entire machine..... dumbasses don't even know what the oil pump does
warm your hands too and Merry Christmas
nope
I'd do it if I had gas to let it sit and run
Here's a more pressing question to those men, Do you warm up your woman before driving her?
Do you sprint when you get out of bed? Your car doesn’t want to either.
Yesss absolutely 😁😁😁
I don't give a damn what anyone says, I'm a mechanic also, I run a shop and I warm my car up always. especially when it's cold. In summer I let her run for a few minutes, in winter I let em run for about 10. just enough to get the oil thinned out a bit and get the engine warm.
You shouldn't warm up the car more than 30 seconds no matter how cold
Nope My trk is fuel injected and 40 yrs old I start it and go
there is a reason there are numbers on the temp gauge your engine will operate better at temp if its cold it will help warm the oil and actually do its job if you even read the manual it will say the same thing , even more so when it's cold ,btw fellow mechanic
Never. Nope. Nein. Non. Nada. No.
do you want to waste gas ?
Only if needed to defrost windshield.
They must all drive classic cars.
Idling is bad for the engine.
most cars have a slight higher idle during the warming process. I wait for the initial idle to go down to 1.2k rpms before driving. I thought that was common sense.
nothing better than metal on metal with no oil on your motor....
I don't warm my car up. Over 100,000 miles. Car is still running great.
I don't care what anyone says, it's good to warm up an engine and get those fluids flowing before taking off
So when get off work you sit in car for 10min BS O'clock know you fools headin for a beer lol
Wussy Boys... Obviously they love their Seat heaters
yep gotta get that oil temp up
It's honestly pointless to warm up your car for anything other than heat so you're not cold.
go ahead and start up get 2 miles down the road.....oil cold... it's just making it throughput your engine......warm the car up...damn people...
DAMN RIGHT
if its winter ya 10 or 15 min but in summer about 5
