The drone pilot, Dima Smirnov, confirmed that they hired an actor and used a tame, trained bear named Tom to create the dramatic chase. Despite being a "pet," the crew noted it was still dangerous because the bear's behavior around the drone was unpredictable.
If that's real, the drone operator hopefully helped the guy by sacrificing his drone.
