For drainage so the water doesn't pool, then no big icy patches in winter, common sense people
Here’s something a little more interesting then a drainage hole, for those that don’t know that is,, bridges are not solid from one side to the other, they are installed in sections and placed upon what’s called bridge cushions, and if you stand in the middle of one you’ll know why, they “breathe” with wind and traffic, if built solid they would give under the stress and crumble then fall…….. as I said, for those that didn’t know
no one told you to look through the drainage hole.
Remember walking across the Brooklyn bridge with a few friends when one of my friends chain popped, slipped down the crack and we we looked down and see where it went straight into the water a crazy site 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Drainage, expansion holes for stress relief. Check physics 101
good Lord people, drainage maybe

the coldest winter I ever experienced was summertime in San Francisco
so when it rains the water doesn't pool it drains out the holes
no worries just for water run off
weep. holes. for. water
one day I decided to walk the golden gate bridge. well as God truth I couldn't wait to get to the end. not because I was tired but because of all the ghosts that crowded me and made me feel so sad and anxious inside. there are so so so many forlorne spirits there. if you are sensitive to energies walk the bridge and be alone when you do. you'll see what I mean.😔

Me too.......🥴.......😀
🌸
hold a fishing linejust come back later to check
People I live in a that state that get cold . during the winter the bridges always freeze up . because of the air that blows over it and under it that cold air freezes 🥶 up all that moisture on the bridge faster that on 😲the ground. So yes it true that bridge in San Francisco can ice up at times when it's below ( 32 ) degrees anytime it gets to 32 degrees and lower that is the point everything start to freeze up .
for drainage
Years ago I climbed down to it and then on it. Meaning underneath it, like the workers do. Not surprisingly, I found it rather scary
it's used to throw your Pennies and make a wish!
No way
inspection ports?
Every bridge has drain holes lmao
water drainage
inspection port to check the steel girders?
drainage
form work holes for drainage
Duh, holes for wind and drainage. Ever heard about galloping Gerty? A bridge in Washington State that collapsed in severe winds.
rain and wind. weather and the wind have alot to do with anything we build. cars, houses. for instance , they changed the way houses were built in the 1970's. it used to be windows were across from each other from one side to the other. they quit doing that because lightning can go in one window out the other, and killed people in it's way. I had one miss me by less than an inch. And another, almost hit one of my sisters, lucky she was little. so ,wind and water
Really???? They are for Drainage!!!
it's draining holes on the bridge so that there is no icy patches on it that is why so that the water 💦 can drain away from it duh
When I was younger, I had a sister who was identified as schizophrenic. She had escaped from a hospital and went and tried to jump off the Golden Gate Bridge. Police caught her just as she had climbed to the most accessible spot to jump. She said God told her to do it. Scary times.
OP, why? what was supposed to be down there?
yeah maybe used for inspection below or for water drainage
I was stationed on treasure Island for a couple of years and liked Frisco but hate Oakland.
So the bridge can collapse evenly and eventually
stops flooding rain water 👍
@Chas j All bridges can experience icing either nothing but air underneath. Look it up.
plus it needs to be able to sway with earthquake shakes 🙏
a strong beam? careful water might fall from the sky🤔
THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE IS ALWAYS ON THE MOVE A FLEXIBLE CABLE SUSPENSION BRIDGE
makes sense I knew there had to be a reason for it thank you
it's so obvious it's for drainage. I really have no patience for stupid people
I am not an engineer, and I was interested in what the holes were for. That's how we learn, by asking questions!
Is for fishing 😁
gives you a idea what your going to hit if your going for suicide jump. drainage
Is it possible to walk the bridge
that's not the place for a swim
No clue
So the water can escape
My dad and l rode bicycles across the Golden Gate Bridge 🥰
Well, the thing is people are watching you so they gotta have a way to peep up and see you walking over the top. You know what I mean that’s like twilight zone stuff but yeah there’s some real strange shit going on out there.
drain holes for rain
Water drainage, calm down.
You're a clown!
