For drainage so the water doesn't pool, then no big icy patches in winter, common sense people
Hereโs something a little more interesting then a drainage hole, for those that donโt know that is,, bridges are not solid from one side to the other, they are installed in sections and placed upon whatโs called bridge cushions, and if you stand in the middle of one youโll know why, they โbreatheโ with wind and traffic, if built solid they would give under the stress and crumble then fallโฆโฆ.. as I said, for those that didnโt know
helps the structure in some way
Never ever just look through any old hole you see. My friend was walking past this old psychiatric hospital which had a big wooden fence around it. At one point he could hear people on the other side yelling "Twelve, Twelve Twelve" a few feet further was about a 4 inch hole at chest height, then he heard it again "Twelve, Twelve Twelve" He walked up to the hole, bent down and put his eye up to it to look through and then a sharp stick was pushed through the hole getting him right in the eye. Then the people on the other side of the wooden fence began shouting "Thirteen, Thirteen, Thirteen."
If you really want to be freaked out, walk across that same bridge on a really windy day! ๐จ๐โ๏ธโค๏ธ๐
that bridge is really high and san fran is a bit windy....need drainage so it doesn't freeze or build up
one day they shut the bridge down and allowed pedstrians to walk on it ,so many people showed up the bridge lost it curve look it up.
so you can drop a fishing line where the big fish is at
So it doesn't flood when it rains for days.
I thought it was a pee hole in case you had to take a wiz ๐
Drain lol
every year my wife's girl scout troop we walk across the Golden gate bridge. they called it bridging going from brownies to girl scouts. then they would all gather at presidio San Francisco and celebrate. quite the event they do it annually.
so they can freak you out๐๐๐
drain holes.... that's it.
The water looks beautiful
some people aren't smart
Dude, what do you think those holes are there for? Duh!
Future use.
You found a glory hole ๐ณ๏ธ ๐
brookport bridge in ky an 1/2 illinois had holes too whole pepsi can fits in them
Why do people use that same stupid music for these lame videos? They show you something mundane and think it is automatically scary because they play that soundtrack. Just plain old stupid.
Great quality video EXCELLENT โค๏ธ
so the water ๐ง won't sit
Are they for the exact reason that the poster is using them? They are viewports that inspectors use to directly view the undercarriage of the bridge that cannot be viewed directly otherwise.
To shed the water weight off of the bridge. if it's freezing, the weight of frozen water is astronomical. be not afraid. those holes are there for a reason. They're nice neat and tidy.๐ค
Water drainage....
why?
so
Water Drainage from the Rain, whatelse!
Water drainage, bridge repairs...
TO MAKE PEOPLE ASK QUESTIONS LOL
Drainage
just fixing to say do rain water gos off the bridge doesn't puddle an mess up cars
just don't fall into that hole or crack
Their repossessing it one inch diameter holes at a time
drain
Water drain!
The holes are placed there so that people with zero common sense will stop and ask, "I wonder why there are holes on the Golden Gate Bridge"?
probably to stop cracking
Drainage and Possibly For Traction...!!!
Draining water to stop hydroplaning๐ค
Probably drain and inspection holes. Water can freeze on bridges at temperatures below 39 degrees, as there is no ground warmth underneath. Inspectors can check structure through them also.
So it donโt flood when it rains
