Deputies say 42-year-old Lagarius Spikes was arrested Wednesday night on a second charge of soliciting a juvenile for sex, just hours after he bonded out of jail on the first case. According to the Manatee County Sheriffโs Office, the new charge involves a 15-year-old student who reported that Spikes began making sexually explicit comments to her as early as August. Investigators say that on November 12, during a conversation in his office at Bayshore High, Spikes expressed a desire to engage in sexual acts with her. Detectives later determined there was probable cause to charge him with soliciting sexual battery by an authority figure involving a victim under 18. Deputies arrested Spikes at his home Wednesday night, noting that the new allegation is separate from his earlier arrest involving a 16-year-old student. In that first case, reported on November 17, a parent came forward with sexually explicit conversations, phone messages, and an audio-recorded conversation they say involved Spikes and their child. Based on that evidence, investigators also charged him with soliciting sexual battery by an authority figure.
