Here’s a tidbit no one really knows though…during his, I believe his first term as president, he nominated Hugo Black to be a Supreme Court justice. Before that, Hugo Black was the #1 attorney for the KKK. The irony of his name though, huh? I have another one for ya. In 1964 when the Civil Rights Act was being voted upon by Congress. It was passed by a Majority Republican vote. There were two Senators that filibustered the vote. One was Charles Albright (Democrat) and the other, from the great state of Tennessee, Al Gore Sr (Democrat). Dwight D. Eisenhower (Republican) tried to get the Civil Rights Act passed in his last term as president, but it was voted down by a Democratic majority Congress.
