when we did this during basic (Fort Dix), we had to point one arm and with the grenade arm we had to "rock back" tap the grenade against our helmet then throw it & duck behind the blast shield... ... the "omg what the..." in the background would have been the precursor to my drill instructors punishing the whole squad for that "bitch of a throw"
