I was a Correctional officer for 25 years I may have seen 2 or 3 come back so they all don't come back an they are doing Great for themselves they have great jobs an families now an buck of them are truck drivers

It will be hard to function on the outside after 17 years of every move being regulated...sleep, eat, rec, shower, etc. Unless you have a strong presence to help you on the outside. Believe it or not, some can't handle the outside world after so long and intentionally get in trouble just to go back. The term "institutionalized " is very accurate.
