I told my doctor something was wrong. He said everything from the flu to fibromyalgia. I heard it was female issues etc. While I was at work one night I felt very ill threw up blood. Took a 12 hour surgery to remove the cyst that was attached to my liver pancreas and spleen. It’s been 6 years of constant pain and illness multiple surgeries and procedures…. Still sick and can’t work. I commend doctors and nurses that listen and don’t just assume their patients are drug seekers

Clinical prejudice. Wonder how many lives have been lost because doctors assumed instead of investigated?

even though is is a show, in real life nurses pick up on things all the time because we are with the patients more, but according to the dept of education we are not professionals.

A lovely woman I once dated started having lower back pain, meds and chiropractor didn't help. Long story short - Eventually she was diagnosed with Cervical cancer that had spread to her spine. She was incredibly brave and fought hard but ultimately the cancer took her. She was 41. One of the most beautiful and fun people I've ever known. Fuck cancer. Take care of yourselves and listen to your body. Consider the HPV vaccine. RIP Angela.

My daughter was 18 at the time. Rash on her body, clothes touching her hurt. Take her to ER. Dr looks says just a rash. Ready to send her home. Her dad pitches a fit, no blood work, nothing done. He tells doctor to come back. They find out she had shingles and needed a prescription. Rare for someone her age but it does happen.

This is a major issue. Thanks to the opioid epidemic Drs think anyone who walks in with pain are drug seekers.

A friend was in a car accident. She hit her head, and broke her ankle. The doctor started prepping her for surgery for her ankle. The nurse told him they should wait for a cat scan first, before putting her under. The ankle injury could wait. The girl's mother agreed. The doctor overrode the mother. The young lady never woke up. She was 23 years old and had 2 little girls. The mother sued and won a settlement for the girls. The doctor fired and stripped of his license. The young lady died in a nursing home 22 years later.

If you are a migraine sufferer, you will know this scenario too well. ERs actually have protocols to treat migraine sufferers as drug seekers. What is criminal is to seek out medical help when you are truly ill and in excruciating pain and then be treated with disdain and placebo medication while you are suffering.

I had an ER doctor with that same attitude when I was 50(25 years ago) A real doctor ordered an MRI and I had 2 herniated discs in the upper thoracic region. Paid the jerk a visit with the film once well and expressed his need to return to med school. Jackleg

i love my nurses, of course there are some that need to be removed. But those are so Beyond NOT THE NORM, by any shape or form. Doctors on the other hand some arent worth the fake white linens they wear

yeah, even when I was about 6-7months pregnant, a lot of hospitals treated me like I was going through withdrawals from drugs and proceeded to test my urine for said drugs like wtf, when the whole time it was just something now called hyperemesis gravidarum, which is severe morning sickness and I get it everytime I get pregnant.
