Saw this in Japan with Asahi beer cans. It's a great design. The idea from their marketing was that it made it like drinking from a cup. Plus, there aren't any sharp edges. The lip around the can is rounded and smooth.

When I was 7/8yrs old I was doing cartwheels in the backyard & I ended up stepping on a spam can that cut up my left foot pretty bad!
