Eating catfish is a great southern tradition. The catfish are bottom feeders.... they ear poop from other fish. My x-inlaws would have big cat fish fries... and eat the meat of the catfish that was nourished on fish poop. In the north we didn't cat catfish bc of this.😲😆

Growing up in Mississippi, we are attracted catfish by using spoiled cheese that stuff so bad when I look at a video I can still smell it. We put it inside of a net of fish swimming, but they could not swim out.

As a youth we could get, OATS, corn and other. grains in burlap bags, , we just placed them in certain pond or river bottoms. The grains ferment and dissolve after a bit, we placed sacks in winter, and fish would pluck at sack or feed ontiy driftingpieces.
