Had a Vietnam vet tell me he was wounded and sent back to the states and went to buy a beer and wasn’t old enough. Old enough to die but not old enough to buy a beer.
The kitchen on our floor was brand new, microwave, oven, and stove. Was a fridge until some individual put it their room. Then some drunk soldiers decided it would be funny to turn the stove and oven on and let them burn. The fire extinguisher put out the fire. That was the end of the kitchen. The tv room went away and cleaning duty every Sunday evening was implemented.

it's because one or more persons have literally burnt their room down. you should already know in the military that one person ruins it for everyone.
I can relate to this. Got in trouble for having a panini flat iron toaster in my barracks room while I was managing about 24 million dollars worth of response equipment to the Hurricane Sandy response. 😆

I've seen something that in an air traffic control tower on the 3rd floor or something that they have a lounge and a microwave, every day for a week since the microwave was installed their instruments and shit would malfunction, until a janitor brought it up, they didn't have problems after removing it, Maybe we're not allowed certain things for a reason, that's all I've got to say
