It’s called hobbling. It’s been done for thousands of years as a way to keep animals from running away while the owner is working with them. For safety reasons to the human and animal. Animals are not hobbled for very long periods of time. Before cars a horse might be hobbled if there were nowhere to hitch it.
The smell on a pig farm is horrible I lived down south for 35 years and when we go through the country I have a towel I spray with perfume until we pass the hog farms and plants! I’ll never get used to that smell or the turkey plant o farms hell the chicken farms also!! It takes days to get that smell out of your nose!🤢🤢
This is why I don't eat meat ! Mother confined . She is treated like a machine. Absolutely no consideration for her comfort or mental well being. This is physical and mental cruelty. She will be rebred as soon as possible. If you eat meat you are supporting the cruelty of factory farming !!😡
I don’t understand why would they tie up her back legs? Growing up we had a small ranch with milk, beef cows and horses and a male and female pig! But she was in a large corral. Daddy pig was in a separate corral. And when she had her litter they were in the corral with her! No small pen or confinement. When the babies grew up, my dad would sell them, but we never knew who too! I always worried about the young piglets when they were sold to who knows where! Because we had a baby lamb the mother rejected and us made a pet out of her and when she was a year old we came home from school and she was gone. We cried and cried when we found out he had her butchered! I haven’t eaten lamb since!
It’s a confinement lot. The pigs are in tiny cages then put on their side. They are inseminated, give birth and die in those confinements. No room at all. Sometimes the mom wants to move, all it can do is crush its babies while trying to move. Extremely cruel.

This might be AI, but it’s based on reality! This is how they’re handled. The Sow has tethered hind legs so that she is always in feeding position with the piglets, kept in a small stall to keep her muscles weak, for tender meat later. . She’s trying to get a drink of water, looks like. I really hate people.

I guess you gotta decide which smell you can handle. The farm animal smell in the country or the filthy smog/sewage smell in the city. I'll take the country smells every day!!!

My grandmother raised pigs. They love that water. Actually they love being hosed down. I won't judge people who raise them or anything else, but personally I don't eat pork! My stomach can't handle it. Too rich! 🐖

These pigs will go out to pasture when she is done . These it’s are luckier than most that are just fed they do have there pun stalls that are open to pasture . But most don’t get this human contact . They love it !!
