Beautiful? If you have very low standards. Practical? When there’s already a gate? And it can’t lock. And, as others have pointed out, large eye screws. A “hook bolt” would have a hook, not an eye, and last time I checked, if it goes into a solid surface, it’s a hook. A bolt goes through and is kept from pulling out with a nut. Oh, and not really a tool in the strictest sense. Not hand-held even if operated with a hand, and not used to do an element of work, any more than a door or window is a tool.

Ok. How does it slide when he bolted the one on the gate to the outside of the eye screw. Wouldn't he have to set the eye screw on the gate on the inside of the post eye screw for it to slide? Maybe my mind is working overtime.
