In alaska we butchered wherever we could. we did one in our basement butchered, wrapped and froze and ate for a year. another time with a deer, we butchered out in the woods.Because the deer had a lot of ticks, and we didn't want those in our house. there's a precautions you take to keep from getting bit. rabbits, we skinned out in the field too. ducks were a different matter.We just gutted them and then skinned them when we got home. some people wanted some of the feathers off of them. welcome to rural living. if you live the sanitized life of the city and get all your meat and produce from the grocery store, if the economy fell, you will learn fast why country boys will survive. 🤔

Seriously people, it looks like an Elk to begin with. Next is sometimes you work with what you have available. I butchered a goat dressed it out and ate it all at home, FYI I am still surviving. I shot a deer in the woods took it to a butcher shop paid $160 to have them dress it out and cut it up. FYI I’m still around. We dressed out a steer, hung the meat, cut it up, made ground beef and more. I am still here. You work with what you have available and be happy you have meat for dinner. I have also eaten squirrel, duck, rabbit, chicken, turkey, goose fresh caught from our pets, fish straight out of the lake and so much more. If the world came crashing down and there were no more supplies sent to the grocery stores. FYI I will survive, will you?
I believe I am really thankful I never had to do that! I never realized how much space it would take up. They are doing a very clean job with it!
